A gift to Australia from Britain on the fiftieth birthday of the Federation the Carillon has to be one of the largest musical instruments in the country. You can learn more about it HERE. This shot was taken with the now defunt Samsung ES75, hand held and braced against a parking sign, which was shivering in the considerable wind, so I've had to work with some inevitable softness. There was also a fair bit of fog, thus the faint light patterns in the sky. I've found the Carillon a bit of a photographic challenge and this image gives me hope that I will at some point get a shot that really nails it for me. The fact that it's on a small island limits the angles and lines you can set up, it's height, added to the island limitation, means, with the lens I have, you either have it at quite a distance like this, or you are so close you can't fit all of it in one composed image. At this great distance it's hard to make the Carillon the strong presence in the photo that it is in real life. Using the walk bridge to the island this way might be a clue about how to do that. I shall return, with tripod and Pentax, in the future. For now, please enjoy.

Mikel.
