Here I am in Shanghai, at last. This was taken from my apartment window, in the centre of Downtown but not looking towards the centre of Downtown. He He. I got in at 6, was at the hotel at 7 and went walkabout at 9. Got lost, got myself found again. It's quiet here because it's the weekend of Chinese New Year, lots of places closed and most people at home with their families. Bit of snow in the air last night and today, but not enough to settle on the ground (More's the pity, would love some "Shanghai in snow" shots.). I hope to deliver one shot a day while I'm here and in Chengdu. Only processing on my wee netbook so they will be relatively raw. When I'm in a foreign country I find everything fascinating, no idea what will get posted, not all will be scenic, that's likely.

Enjoy.

Mikel.

PS, Modern China is as camera friendly as any other country. Anyone who's been on camera buff forums for long will discover that we get warned off various buildings and structures, like bridges, in the West all the time these days. It's possible, in the inland regions, where provinces tend to be a bit like private kingdoms of beauracrats, that local police might be more twitchy, worrying that someone higher up the food chain will fire them if they are not tough on foreigners with cameras. That doesn't mean this is the normal official attitude of mainstream China these days. I'm having a ball.
