Schoenstatt Shrine in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Schoenstatt is a Catholic Marian Movement started by Father Joseph Kentenich in 1914, in Germany. The first shrine was built in Germany, and all of the shrines around the world are an exact replica on the inside as the first one. When the Nazis exiled Fr. Kentenich to the USA, he went to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and continued his order there. A shrine was built there and later in 5 (I believe) other places in the USA, including Staten Island, New York; Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; and Waukesha, Wisconsin. There are over 180 replicas of the Original Shrine in the world, including Puerto Rico; Rome, Italy; and Cologne, Germany. This particular Shrine is in the care and on the lands of a division of Schoenstatt (German for "beautiful place"), the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary. Besides the Shrine on the Sisters' land is a Retreat Center, which I frequently visit, the house in which Fr. Kentenich lived during his exile in the USA, and the Province House, where all of the Sisters, excluding a few who maintain the Retreat Center, live. If I can manage to get a better picture of the Shrine, and a good picture of the inside of the Shrine next time I visit, I'll post it on here. That ^ is just a brief history of Schoenstatt, and if anyone would like to know more either pm me, post here, or on my user page, and I'll try to get many more details for you. -Rose
