I was getting ready to photograph this delphinium when a hoverfly came by. The hoverfly immediately started to orbit the flower upon shutter start, almost in live sync with the shifting focal length of the focus bracketing. I think of hoverflys as plant guardians, looking you over when you come near their flower. It is fun to peruse images afterward to find little eyes staring back, sometimes just eyes and antenna peeking from behind a petal.
