I'm not sure if this is a young monarch or one that has some sort of mutation due to the odd grey & white on its wings? It was smaller than the rest of the monarchs that were stopping at our butterfly bush before heading out to Point Pelee for their long journey to Mexico. It was taken in LaSalle, Ontario on Aug 27, 2008 with a Canon Digital Rebel XTI and a Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM lens at 1/400s, F/4.5, ISO 100 and a focal length of 93mm.
