a belay device...i just liked how this looked and for those that dont know much about climbing here is what it is and what its used for: 'Belaying' is the process of controlling the amount of rope available (slang: 'paid out') to the climber therefore restricting how far the climber could fall. A belay device is used by the belayer. Belay devices add friction to the system and permits the belayer to stop the climber's fall.
