It is assumed that the Barrinha de Esmoriz was an extension of the Ria de Aveiro (the northernmost arm) connected to the sea. Currently the Ria de Aveiro branch further north is in Carregal without connection to the sea and, more or less, 10 km from Barrinha. If this were to maintain an extension of the Ria, today we would not have the spectacular forest that connects Esmoriz to Furadouro. The garbage we see here was the sea that anchored inside the Barrinha (nylon fishing nets on the high seas), in short: pollution. But we must also see the positive side of this case: this garbage may have been the home and defense of thousands of new fish .... Please be happy
