Entering the sea in a traditional seine fishing method called "xvega" involves leaving one end of a rope on land (visible at the stern of the boat), venturing a few hundred meters out to sea, and casting the nets in an inverted U shape with the rope tied to one end of the nets. Another rope is tied to the other end, and the process is reversed. Once ashore, the two ropes are pulled in. In the past, this was done with oxen or human strength; today, it's done with adapted agricultural tractors. The catch is only visible when the nets reach land. Large quantities of sardines, horse mackerel, and mackerel are usually caught, while smaller quantities include sea bass, sole, squid, etc .... A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR to all.
