Castle Soelen lies with gate building and coach house on around island. Already in 1298 a "house Soelen" is called at in a certificate. Several times it was devastated and was rebuilt. In 1574 chatelain Dirk Vijgh let put the bldg. in fire to that prevent it would fall Spanish hands. The current form got the castle after a serious renovation in 1643. Thereby one chose for a classicistische construction style. Castle Soelen has been always inhabited. In 1975, its castle and coach house Subdivided in apartments. The castle moat still the same function has suffered as centuries. All in all it is one of the beautiful castles which stand in our country.
