My entry for Silhouette. In the 1870s salmon fishing on the Columbia river was booming. With all of this new product coming out of the river and with the advent of the fish wheel, there had to be a way to pack and ship before the Salmon would spoil. Canneries popped up everywhere to deal with this problem. they would can the fish or pack it in a barrel with salt to preserve it. This is what is left of those old day canneries. Just some old piles in the water waiting for time to wash away all evidence that they were ever there.
