The Mt Hood National Forest can be blamed for the color of this sunset. The smoke from a wildfire in that forest channeled down the Columbia river corridor and turned the sun red. The sunset was spectacular but the same winds that blew this smoke out toward the ocean also fanned the fires. it is sad to see such a beautiful forest going up in smoke. Hope you enjoy the sunset.
