Notwithstanding the fact that the most innovative and progressive space we've seen - the Internet - has been the place where intellectual property has been least respected. You know, facts don't get in the way of this ideology.
Lawrence Lessig

We have talked about copyrights quite a bit here on the Art Law Journal, so I am going to keep this section rather brief, but there are a few misconceptions that need to be rectified. First, copyrights only protect original works of authorship fixed in a tangible media. Tangible media is something physical. It can be paper, film or computer memory. Examples of copyright-protected works include:
Literary works
Musical works
Dramatic works
Pictorial, graphic and sculptural works
Motion pictures and other audiovisual works
Sound recordings
Architectural works
