All I know is that I've wasted all these years looking for something, a sort of trophy I'd get only if I really, really did enough to deserve it. But I don't want it anymore, I want something else now, something warm and sheltering, something I can turn to, regardless of what I do, regardless of who I become. Something that will just be there, always, like tomorrow's sky. That's what I want now, and I think it's what you should want too. But it will be too late soon. We'll become too set to change. If we don't take our chance now, another may never come for either of us.
Kazuo Ishiguro, When We Were Orphans

A light kiss brings a smile; its encore stirs a flame, a glow not felt in many years... but kindled over time grows strong! It pauses now as if to say, “Hi. I was never really gone. I've been sheltered here inside and am very much alive and well.”
Kate McGahan, One Heart''s Journey

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
Gary Jules, and Michael Andrews, Mad World

He went to fight wars
For his country and his king
Of his honor and his glory
The people would sing

Ooooh, what a lucky man he was
Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Lucky Man

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.
Emily Dickinson, Hope is the thing with feathers

From the Beginning, Emerson, Lake & Palmer

Gimme Shelter, Playing For Change
