The Waterloo Barracks were built during the time that the Duke of Wellington was Constable of the Tower (1826-52). The Building was originally built to house up to almost 1000 soldiers. Today the building's purpose is split between the barracks (the left side of the Clock) and the Jewel House (to the right of the Clock) The Crown Jewels were moved to the Jewel House in 1967 and has jewels and Coronation Regalia dating back to the reign of Charles II (1660). Most of the Coronation Regalia in the jewel House is used today when a new Sovereign is Crowned. When I saw the Crown Jewels (unfortunately no photos are allowed)I was in awe of all the things that I saw .. It was amazing.
