This is a corner tower of the old fort at San Juan, Puerto Rico. Although conceived and built for combating invaders from the sea, I thought it was interesting that they nevertheless added a gracefully designed top for the tower complete with finial ball. I guess they figured if you sometimes have to fight for your life you may as well do it in style.
