Hill End is a quaint village located in the heart of central western New South Wales. Between 1872 and 1873 at the height of the gold mining boom, Hill End boasted a population of around 8,000 (and 28 pubs). Hill End is listed on the register of the National Estate as a relatively ‘intact’ gold-boom townscape and has been a managed cultural asset since 1967 when it was declared an ‘historic site’ of national significance. The Old Rectory is one of the surviving buildings.
