Kingston was declared a World Heritage Site in 2010. The road in the foreground is known as Quality Row and is notable for the restored Georgian buildings that once housed the military garrison and administration including Government House. On the shorefront can be seen the ruins of the penal settlement. Kingston was also the site of the landing of Pitcairn Island descendents of the Bounty mutineers in 1856.
