This is the third in my series of Aspens. This was a half way cabin for workmen who was responsible for stringing telephone lines and maintaining them throughout the year. The cabin is over 100 years old. Nothing much at this altitude ( almost 11,000 feet) is ever destroyed, thanks to the cold weather most of the year. I enjoy photographing at altitudes above 10,000 feet. The sky darkens to almost a Royal Blue. Putting on a Polarizer filter almost makes the sky go black. Another four miles ahead is the ghost town of Summitville. Located at 11,500 feet. This is another place that can be an inspiration for photographers. It can also be menacing as I have been there in July when a very wicked snowstorm came rushing in. Leaving almost ten feet of snow and the road blocked until the end of August. I was lucky enough to leave the area before the snow became to heavy.
