Contiueing the story...I pulled into parking lot of Nature Preserve and was about to take Hanna, my dog, for a walk and thought I should maybe see if I could get better pictures of this Hawk with camera mounted on tripod...so grabbed my camera and tripod and went down trail to tree he was perched in. As I approached the tree I noticed he was not there so I was looking in trees in vicinity to find him...As I got to tree he was perched in before, still looking up, I heard rustling in grass and looked down and there he was at base of tree trying to dig out a field mose...no more than 5 feet from me. I set my tripod as close to ground as I could and took some pictures of him...but unfortunatly he flew away...without mouse. When i got home and looked at these pictures in my computer I got goosebumps as every picture I took of him he had this intensive look in his eye of a predator eyeing prey. I felt I was allowed into his world for one brief period. I also learned from this that this nature photography requires tremendous patience and a knowledge of the subject in order to not disrupt its normal life...If i would have approached this a little different I would have got the pictures I wanted and he would have got the mouse...
