I live about 20 minutes from one of the most popular rock climbing destinations on the West Coast. Not was well known to the general public as, say, Red Rocks in Nevada, or the cliffs at Yosemite, on any given decent day one can find up to several dozen climbers scattered about the park. I was actually taking photos of some relatively close climbers when I just happened to turn around and see this guy on the rock face across the river from where I was shooting. Snagged it. If you enlarge the photo you can see about 2 body lengths above him where the climbing ropes are attached to chains and hooks (if you know what to look for). As you can tell, he was several hundred feet above the valley floor. Smith Rock State Park, Terrebonne, Oregon, USA.
