A little history: The East Transept celebrates Christ's resurrection in an unusually contemporary mosaic. In a shaft of light, he appears to Mary of Magdala, who exclaims, "Rabboni!" (teacher). He will commission her to announce his Resurrection to the apostles. Below is the river of eternal life waters the garden & world.

From right to left: a Roman soldier on Calvary recognizes Jesus' divinity; the burial procession; the risen Jesus breaks bread at Emmaus and the 2 disciples recognize him.

Along the soffit are other testimonies of life triumphant over death. On the right, Jesus raises his friend Lazarus from death below the figure of Jonas, whose 3 days inside the whale parallel Jesus' 3 days in the tomb. On the left: Thomas acknowledges his risen Lord. The seed shows life growing out of death.

Hope you enjoy the image and information from the Cathedral Basilica. Hope it wasn't too long but very interesting. Also if you view in full you can see some of the pipes used by the huge pipe organ that's behind the main altar.

Thanks for Nik giving me so much information on the others I've posted, thought I'd give it a try. What do you think Nik?

If you view this image: Further Back you can see the Transept on the right which is the East Transept the one I just posted here.

Thank you so much for coming by and comments are appreciated.

Have a wonderful Sunday, ♥ Skates
