This (Tuesday, September 29), morning at 11:30 a.m. EDT, the fifth and last monarch emerged from her chrysalis - and she's a beauty! I knew I had to release her was reluctant to do so. She let me know the time had arrived as she was fully dry and was flapping her wings. At 2:43 p.m. EDT, I took her outside - she rested on my hand momentarily and then flew into the tree in front of my house where she stayed for two hours and then took off. She's now on her migration journey - I hope that all goes well because we are in for wind and rain the next few days and possibly a tropical storm this weekend. I managed to get this shot of her in the tree as weather conditions and light were not favorable. Also here is a web site that tracks the monarchs coming through Cape May, NJ capemaymonarchs.blogspot.com
