It was this house that spurred the preservation of the other houses on Huguenot Street in New Paltz. The original stone structure, see on the left, was dramatically altered in 1894, with the modern-for-its-day Queen Anne style expansion. Soon thereafter, the Huguenot Historical Society was formed, and preservation efforts for other houses began. The Deyo House is part of the seven-building museum center, furnished in an early 1900s style, with art work displayed as well. (Window shades are drawn in off-hours to minimize sunlight damage to historic furnishings.) This is a three-exposure HDR image, photographed in the morning sunlight.
