Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Thomas Jefferson's genius showed itself in many ways, one being architecture. Behind the colonnades of the 'academical village' were gardens designed by Jefferson. He designed the garden walls to be one brick thick, using the serpentine curves for the wall to be strong and sturdy, as well as aesthetically pleasing. This garden lies behind Pavilion I, seen above the wall.
