A few of the restored rail cars at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum. This train station was at the midpoint between Columbus Ohio and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It was at the 100 mile mark from either city because a steam engine could only travel 100 miles (back around 1864) before it had to take on more coal. It was also a Red Cross canteen during WWI and was a central hub for the disbursement of troops during WWII. It has been estimated that 1.5 G.I.s were served free food, coffee by the roughly 3,987 volunteers from eight counties at the Dennison Depot Salvation Army Servicemen’s Canteen.
