Continuing from Distractions #2, after a short time I peeked over the porch rail and was pleasantly surprised to see the flowers I had my eye on were abandoned ... no butterflies ... no bees. Seemed odd. Once again I looked through the viewfinder ... the flowers "jiggled". Then there was an unmistakeable "tremor" from within the bush. You haven't lived until you've had your eye glued to a viewfinder close up to a subject and ... a Praying Mantis pokes it's head and jack-knife front legs out in your direction. This BIG BOY (about 5 inches) climbed on top of the flowers and sat there. Gave me a look that indicated he wasn't too thrilled with my spooking his food supply. That was enough for old Muggsy ... I can take a hint. I snapped off a couple of shots and put the lens cap on my camera. Flower pics would have to wait till Springtime.

The entire incident reminded me of a "signature" that Gregg (Egggray) once used, quoting Forrest Gump. I'll paraphrase ... "Nature photography is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
