Day of Red Bull Air Race (2007). You can see near the river around 600.000 people. The twin cities of Porto (on the left) and Vila Nova de Gaia, one of the oldest in Europe, were built on the banks of the Douro River, and are connected to each other through several bridges, one of which is the Dona Maria Pia Bridge, designed by Gustave Eiffel and built in 1877.
