My entry into Pat's contest. I have many spots that go to for their tranquitity, but when I want stillness I return over and over to this spot. It is a huge area, what you see here is perhaps ten percent or less of the total grounds. Usually, near sunset, there are onlt two of us here. Me, and a lone bugler. every night as the flag is lowered, Taps is played. The mournful, meloncholy sounds drifts over the grounds, until the final held, drawn note echoes lightly and recedes, leaving a perfect stillness behind. It is my way of honoring those that are serving now, including my son who is on his second tour in Afghanastan, and those who have come before us. There are times I sit until well after dark, enjoying the stillness, the solitude and reflect on my own thoughts...and pray for my Son and all the others in harms way. Thanx for the great suggestion for a contest Pat. Honesy comment and critique please.
