I don't know if bumblebees with blonde mohawks are common elsewhere, but I haven't seen many. It was slow moving and almost clumsy - very unlike the fast, aggressive, jet-black species in the same area. Even so, I still feel lucky to have gotten this one close shot of a very odd looking specimen (Bombus melanopygus).
