This is the Potomac River (considerably southeast of Washington DC) on its way to the Chesapeake Bay. As you can see, the river is very wide at this point. It is a very different world here from the cement turf where they play hardball wheeling and dealing. I found the people friendly and relaxed...perhaps influenced by the great river and their opportunities to go out on it. There's a fishing boat in the distance, and you can see some crab cages on the pier. I hung around for awhile after shooting this picture, hoping the boat would come retrieve the cages, but that was not its intention.
