This is a very old rose; I'd be surprised if it was planted after 1940. This little bud, like all babies, is beautiful, but it won't grow up to be like the big, glorious, hothouse-bred roses of today. However, it will brighten a doorway, or an old wrought-iron fence, or, eventually, a kitchen window. Notice how the vine bearing this little beauty is turning red, losing green, getting ready to hibernate for the Winter....yet still using the last of its energy to do what it does best...produce a bright spot of color on a day getting grayer and colder by the hour. Thanks for coming to take a look!
