This large grouping of the Cholla cactus, is in Joshua Tree, National Park, California. Pronounced "Choya", they are a definite hazzard I inadvertantly brushed against one, while shooting here, and just one of those 5" cones penetrated my jeans, and deep into my upper thigh. I went into my truck camper, and attempted to get my jeans off, but that was impossible, and extremely painful, as I tried ripping them away from my leg After sveral attempts, I managed to get my jeans back up, and went out for a pair of pliers, climbed back in and started all over again. Some considerable time later, I managed to get my jeans off, but still had 60 odd barbs embedded. It was two hours before I got them all out, and almost two weeks before the swelling subsided. A very painful lesson learned
