Mother Duck and her ducklings, swim about a mile every morning and evening, from their nesting area, to a sheltered bay. My raft is just about half way, in their daily travel to and from, their feeding site. Mother duck has been stopping, twice daily, to give the young ones a rest, and when they were very small, she'd boost them on, with her bill. They rest for 20 to 30 minutes, and continue on their way. This was my first attempt at pictures, as I didn't want to disturb their pattern, while the ducklings were very small. But mama had always known I was there, watching, and this day, she didn't seem at all alarmed, as I worked my way down to the adjacent dock, where the raft was tied. They were still resting there, when I left, and went back up the hiil, and I had been within reaching distance, at one point.
