This lovely young lady is in the process of laying her eggs in the hole she dug in the sandy soil at the edge of my Lane. There's not much traffic, but there are service and delivery trucks on occasion, and I dragged a length of tree limb onto the road in front off her, that was even more obvious. She watched me closely but never faltered in performing what she had set out to do. Blue and I continued on our walk, and she was still there when we came back about forty-five minutes later. With each egg she dropped, she extended her left rear leg and dragged in sand to cover it, which is what she was doing when I shot this. I went back later to make sure she had covered the eggs, which she had, and then moved the log across the front edge of her site, which should protect it as it's off the edge of the traffic lane.
