These are remnants of an earlier era when there was a railway through South Texas, close to the Mexican border.At the time there were numerous farms and ranches . Later a vast region of the area became Big Bend N.P, with camp grounds etc.There are four different mountain ranges that intersect within the park. Not as vast or as high as the Rockies, but quite beautiful.
