when I come with a snack of breadcrumbs he's usually hanging out on the other side of the pond with his lady, who's nesting... he sees me, and rather than paddle all the way, takes to his great wings and, like a white missile, aims directly at me... first time he did it I thought he was protecting his lady and, well, maybe I needed to duck for cover, but he always starts braking about twenty feet out, using his wings and his webbed feet, and 'waterskis' to a stop right in front of me... it's a beautiful and slightly comical display and I feel honored to be so trusted...
