This is a Canada Steamship Lines bulk freighter called the CSL Laurentien. It was launched in 1977 as the Louis R. Desmarais. It is a nearly 38,000 ton self-unloading vessel used for bulk cargo movements. The Laurentien and other self-unloaders (up to 5 at a time) can meet a very large ocean bulker out in the water and load the cargo for overseas destinations. Because of this capability, the bulker would not have to enter port to load. The Laurentien, and CSL's other ships in the fleet, move over 30 million tons of cargo annually. ***I'm thinking about entering this image in the current contest. Let me know what you think.
