One more from the evening of Sept. 14th. Yesterday I was at the Tri-lakes game reserve and when I pulled in to this one area, there was a man taking his boat out of the water, and what caught my eye was the little kitty that was hanging out by him.
I asked him if the little feline was his (I did not really think so) and he replied no, and he thought it had been dropped off, and of course it was hungry.
So I headed to the store, bought some bowls, and dry cat food, and headed back.
When I got back there I did not see the kitty anywhere! I started calling it, and walking, and much to my pleasant surprise I spotted it ahead, but as I was approaching it, I scared it and it started to head away from me towards the woods!
I thought man don't go in there, it was threatening rain, and I was some distance from the car, and really did not want to go in the woods.
The little feline ducked under a bush, and I was not certain just where it was, but as I got closer she started meowing. I knelt down, and started talking to her, and she finally came to me.
She followed me back to the car, and I gave her the food, and as I stood there I thought to myself how can I leave her out here in the wilderness, and winter is coming.
I decided to try to put her on my lap, for the drive back to the house. If she was going to get crazy on me I was going to let her go.
She laid against my chest, and we made the drive back to my mom's, and it started to downpour on the way.
I called the vet, they did some blood work on her, she came out negative for feline leukemia, and aids. She is a little female, weighing in at 4.10 lbs. and they figure her to be 4-5 months old, they found some flea dirt on her, and one tick, but overall she is in pretty good shape. She is a light colored tortoise shell.
Not sure of a name yet, and she is out in the garage for now till she gets her shots, and I wanted to see if she would use the litter box, and hooray she did last night!
So it looks like I have a new feline friend, and I'm sure at some time I will get a pic. of her and share it with you. She is so darn cute, and friendly, and what a shame that someone would drop her off to fend for herself, she could have been a meal for many predators.
Sorry for the long winded story, but hope the animal lovers out there enjoyed it.
