One more the few covered bridges we drove across on our way home from EFRC.

Here is a bit information on covered bridges.

A covered bridge is a timber truss structure where the wooden framework is shielded by some form of roof and (generally) walled superstructure. There are numerous reasons to cover a bridge. Structurally, the covering protects the timber trusses and wooden deck from the elements, drastically expanding their lifespan.Also it was a safer way to cross the rivers when using horses, so they would not spook because of the open sides, and water.
