Another for Foofy Friday - This was taken on the Kalaulau trail in Kauai. I am not certain it is a lily but it does bear a resemblance to the stalks that hosta plants put up when they bloom and they are of the lily family. It grew in clumps along the hillsides and was very striking in color as you see. My husband thinks it may be a type of wild orchid but as there are over 750 varieties of those in the islands I don't thin k we will know! All comments and critiques appreciated. PS I thank Lyn for identifying this flower for me - it belongs to the iris family but is commonly called Peruvian lily.
