Found this guy (and his gals) while out in the country recently. Didn't know what he was until I did some research. Here's what I found out from various sources. The African Goose is a large and bulky bird - with a heavy body that is nearly as wide as it is long, a thick neck, and a large knob attached to its forehead. A crescent-shaped wattle hangs from its lower jaw and upper neck. It has unique brown stripe starting at the head and running down the back. Mature ganders averages 22 pounds, while a mature goose averages 18 pounds. The tail points up and folds up neatly. The eyes are large and deep-set. It is related to the Chinese goose and swan goose and is considered an exotic species in the US. You can clearly see that brown stripe on the female to the right. All comments and critiques appreciated.
