Among porcelains there were pieces created for almost every purpose - Victorians believed every food needed it's own special dish - oyster plates, fish platters, aparagus trays etc. The pieces were usually decorated to match the purpose. This is a very large pitcher - it would hold at least a quart and 1/2 maybe more. The center panel was highly glazed with almost a mirror like finish with the lemons on branches going full around. The top and bottom panels were a matte rusty brown color with gold and silver decor. This piece had unusual decor for it's time period leaning more toward the later arts and crafts type of decoration - it dates to around 1908. All comments and critiques appreciated.
