Found these still on tree last week when at the orchard but due to be picked the following day. These are Rome apples or Red Rome or Rome Beauty - the same apple goes by any of those names. They are usually a late October apple around here but were in several weeks early this year due to spring and summer weather conditions. This apple dates back to the 19th century and was discovered in Rome township in Ohio. It's primararily a baking or cooking apple as it holds it shape well. As you can see it's color is all-over deep red with white spots. All comments and critiques appreciated.
