From The Chicago Botanic Garden at SANSHO-EN - GARDEN OF THREE ISLANDS Japanese gardens. After you cross the arched bridge you eventually arrive here at Shoin House. Modeled on the dwellings of warriors and aristocrats of the Middle Ages, this house was built in Japan using traditional carpentry techniques and transported to the garden in modules to be put in place. It looks over to Horaijima (Island of Everlasting Happiness).
