This is the small garden next to our village hall. It is dedicated to the men and women from our village whose lives were lost fighting for America's freedom. There are marble plaques bearing all the names starting with the Civil War when my area was just a wide spot in the road from Chicago. The bulk of the names are from WWI and WWII plus of course Vietnam. The gun is a piece of WWII rolling artillery and I could not identify what kind it was although my guess is the smallest rolling Howitzer. This park is on a downward slope towards our library which is why it may appear slanted but if you look at the flagpole it is not. I'm proud to post this for the 4th of July and also to tell you it was featured in our local paper which came out Wednesday. Happy Independence Day to all us Yankees!
