This is a Phragmipedium which is a type of slipper orchid originally found primarily in the tropical forests of South America. This was taken at the winter orchid show at the Chicago Botanic Garden. I really liked this one for the color, the distinct markings on the slipper portion and of course the name. I hope our jerseygirl Laura likes it as well. My foofy for this Friday a bit early.
