I'm posting for Tuesday tonight as I'm off to take my mom to an early Dr's appointment tomorrow morning. Catkins are elongated clusters of single-sex flowers bearing scaly bracts and usually lacking petals. Many trees bear catkins, including willows, birches, and oaks. The word catkin is a loanword from the old Dutch katteken, meaning "kitten", because of the resemblance to a kitten's tail. These are white birch catkins taken from my terrace today. I was working on the proper macro focusing at a longer distance. I thought this came out pretty well.
