A very old rose sometimes called Japanese rose as originally it came from Asia. It was first brought to the USA in 1845 and became naturalized all over New England starting in 1899. It is considered invasive in some parts of this country and Great Britain. It forms very large hips(fruit) sometimes at the same time as it is still bearing flowers. It's leaves are quite different than modern roses.
