Pieris is a genus of seven species of shrubs in the heath or heather flowering plant family. They are native to mountain regions of eastern and southern Asia, eastern North America and Cuba. Known commonly in North America as Lilly of the Valley Shrub. They are evergreen shrubs growing about 3 ft. to as much as 18 ft. tall and up to 10 ft. wide. The flowers have a light honey scent and are about 1/2" long in white, pink or red. They are a favorite of some species of butterflies.
