This building, later a Hotel, was built in 1875-1876 for $14,000 of bricks that were handmade by the locals and it was the first County Courthouse at that time. Then the county seat moved to Dillon, Mt. in 1882. The Hotel was bought, remodeled and opened as a Hotel in 1882 by Dr. John C. Meade for $1250.00, it served as a restaurant also. It had a large kitchen, dining room and then living quarters were added to the back of the hotel. In 1931 the hotel was bought by the I.B. Mining Company. The hotel was used for many years, and operated off and on til the 1940's. In 1954 the state of Montana bought the hotel. It's a wonderful building to be respected and still enjoyed to browse thru.
